- 2002 AGATHA AWARDS:
Established in 1989, Malice Domestic is an annual convention in metropolitan Washington,
DC, saluting "mysteries of manners", books best typified by the works of Agatha
Christie. The mystery genre is loosely defined as featuring an amateur detective
(usually), a confined setting, and characters who know one another.
- Best Children's/Young Adult Mystery Novel:

- 2002 BOOK SENSE AWARDS:
Chosen by the American Booksellers Association from those most highly recommended to
customers.
- Children's Literature Winner:
THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS by Ann Brashares (Delacorte)
- Children's Illustrated Winner:
OLIVIA SAVES THE CIRCUS by Ian Falconer (Atheneum)
- THE 2002 EDGAR AWARDS:
The Edgars are presented by the Mystery Writers of America Organization. The awards are
named after Mystery Writers of America's patron saint, Edgar Allan Poe, and are awarded to
authors of distinguished work in various categories of the genre.
- 7th ANNUAL AUDIE AWARDS:
The Audio Publishers Association announced the winners of the Seventh Annual Audie Awards
which honor excellence in audio publishing.
