2002 Poetry Contest

ODE TO A TOAD

One day while walking down a road
I happened upon the strangest toad.
He wasn't the usual brown or green
He was the brightest purple I'd ever seen!

I jumped behind a big oak tree
and peeked around so I could see
this most amazing purple toad
hopping gaily down the road.

He wore a hat of blue robin feathers
to protect his head in rainy weather,
and a pair of boots the color of rose
to cover the webs of his purple toes.
