GOOSEBUMPS HORRORLAND by R.L. Stine
Are you looking for a hilarious series that will also give you a serious case of the heebie-jeebies? The master of spooky storytelling, R.L. Stine --- author of the incredibly popular Goosebumps books --- has just the thing: a 12-book series called Goosebumps HorrorLand. Be prepared to laugh out loud, even as you break out in a cold sweat of terror!
In the first nine books, we meet new characters as they endure exciting but creepy adventures. The story doesn't end when their tale does, though, since these children are then invited to visit HorrorLand, the most frightening amusement park you could ever imagine, in a serial story at the end of each book. As these "guests" gather together, they (and readers) are terrified and perplexed by what lies in wait for them.
These books have three sections:
- The main story, which is a stand-alone tale.
- The "Enter HorrorLand" installment of the continuing series. Characters from the main stories visit the monstrous amusement park where they meet kids and villains from the previous books in the series. Each installment ends with an intriguing and irresistible cliffhanger, so expect to count the days until the next book comes out!
- The "Fear File" --- maps, newspaper ads, menus, brochures and other fun items connected to the part of HorrorLand in each book's installment.
The last three books of the series take place in HorrorLand only, all the better for the characters and readers to weave the storylines together, solving the mystery --- if we all survive long enough. Gulp.
